Bat (Chiroptera)
When people ask about a bat and what evolution is there and what family do they come under?
Well when looking up about it people have found out that the bat are in the mammal family and that it is the only flying mammal in the world. There evolution is hard to find because the answer people are looking for is how it can fly and how it is a mammal.
Well the first question will be how are they a mammal and not a bird?
A bat is classed as a mammal because they must of had four 4 legs to walk with at the begin of it. They also give birth the live young and rayes them up until they are an adult. As while pocr give milk to their young, but a bird does not give milk to their young. So that answers one question, so a bat is a mammal.
The next question is how did they become flying animals?
Well this is a hard question because no one has the answer but lot of people have had a guess why they become a flying animal. They could have change because of their habitat, could be there food, preater or lots of other thinks. Well it must have been a good reason for it or they don’t know that they were changing. So, where do we start? That is the question because you cannot say start at the beginnings as we don’t know when that was, but we could look at their skeletal shape and see what happen.
So what happen to them or to their skeletal?
When you look at a bat skeletal it looks like the bat has hands not wings, so that tells us that the bat must have had hands or some think like that. But when you start to look at the names of the body’s you will find out that they have the same body’s name as us. This is shown on the photo on the right.
But when looking at the photo you can see that that is made. But why is this? Well the answer must be that there must have had hand before they had wings.
So we now known that the bat wings are made for the hand they had before they got wings. But when looking at an animal there is one that looks a bit like the bat, the lived in the year of the donaser and the animal was called the pterosaur. There is a different between them and it is that the pterosaur wing is thin and noraw but the bat wing is long and shaped differently. You can also see that the bat wing could also be shaped like bird wing but also there are different between them. The different are that bird wing has feather and that the bird do not have hand live wing but like the bat it don’t have feather it has skins and there wing is shaped into a hand like wing.
